Herb wants to build the first baby translator, a device that will interpret babies’ cries and mumbles into plain speech. Homer agrees to fund the research and when Herb’s business takes off, he buys the family gifts. Lisa gets a book-of-the-month membership, Bart gets a NRA membership, Maggie gets what the dog’s eating, Marge gets a new washer and dryer and Homer gets a vibrating chair.

Palmer has had enough of Sherry’s power plays and has a final showdown with her in the hotel ballroom. Nina knows that the Drazens have no leverage without Kim, so she calls Jack and tells him that Kim’s body was found floating in the harbor. Jack is crushed by grief and then he flies into a rage. He rushes the Drazens and a bloody shoot-out ensues. Nina’s cover is blown and she makes a final dash for safety, leaving a bloody trail behind her. Jack is able to apprehend her before she can escape, but he is stunned to learn that he didn’t arrive soon enough.

Goku shakes off the slime, and blasts the worm. The worm then calls his father, but instead of eating Goku, the father yells at his son. Goku and the worm become friends, and the worm points them in the direction of the four they’re looking for. Goku and Vegeta arrive in Buu’s head, where they encounter what appear to be Piccolo, Gohan, and Gotenks. These three begin attacking Goku and Vegeta, and even though Goku and Vegeta are winning the fight, their attackers don’t take on any damage. Buu goes to a bakery and begins to eat some cake, which causes what appeared to be Piccolo, Gohan, and Gotenks to turn into cakes. They were just Buu’s thoughts. Goku and Vegeta finally find their four friends, who are trapped in cocoons, unconscious, but alive.

The library is guarded by the knowledge spirit, Wan Shi Tong, who doesn't welcome humans into his library, because he believes they only seek information for evil purposes. When Wan Shi Tong discovers Sokka wasn't being truthful with him, he begins to sink the library, bringing the kids down with it. Will everyone be able to escape the library in time? And who are the strange benders who are trying to kidnap Appa?
Toph's instructing abilities come into question when Aang cannot seem to overcome a block that keeps him from earthbending. Sokka gets himself in a jam while befriending what was, moments before, his next meal, and Iroh and Zuko begin training utilizing new philosophies and methods that originate from the other elements.
