Back at Buu’s house, Hercule arrives to defeat the evil creature. He tries some tricks with poison candy and exploding video games, but they have no effect on the monster. Buu decides to be friends with Hercule.

Asuma mourns Chiriku's death while Hidan and Kakuzu take Chiriku in for their payment. Meanwhile, Kakashi shows Naruto something that leaves him surprised.
Tsunade sends out a team to deal with the most recent Akatsuki problem while Naruto struggles to complete his most recent training exercise. That night, Naruto finds a source of motivation looking up at the night sky. Looking up, Sakura remembers the same thing as Naruto: Sasuke.
Hidan and Kakuzu infiltrate the Fire Temple in an effort to assassinate Chiriku. Meanwhile, Naruto resumes his wind training by using his chakra to try and cut a waterfall in half.
Having managed to stop the Kyubi's chakra from taking over his body again, Naruto now tries to do the same for Sora. With time running out, can Naruto save Sora?
Naruto tries to reason with Sora, but with no success. Asuma fights Furiido, who is revealed to be Kazuma. Meanwhile, Naruto's demon fox cloak also surrounds him, but something is different about it. To make matters worse, Yamato cannot suppress the Kyubi's chakra.
Naruto and Asuma arrive in time to witness Sora's horrifying secret. Recognizing the chakra surrounding Sora and listening to Furiido's words, Naruto explains that he knows the pain Sora feels and attempts to convince him to snap out of it. But time is quickly running out as Sora loses more and more of himself to the power within him!
With Fuen and Fuudo dead, the zombies disperse and the shinobi of Konoha begin to plan their counter attack. As the four dead guardians proceed to their positions to use their ultimate jutsu, Limelight, Furiido reveals to Sora the root of his power. Why is Sora's connection to Naruto so strong? What is the true source of his mysterious power? And could this be the end of Konoha?
Naruto, Sakura and Yamato are stuck fighting Fuka, Fuen and Fudo respectively, yet again. Asuma struggles against Kitane, while Lee, Kiba, Choji, Akamaru, Ino and the other Konoha shinobi try to fend of the ninja corpses. Thinking about the dangers that his friends face, Shikamaru finally makes his move.
As Furiido advances his attack on Konoha, Asuma is forced to deal with an unpleasant element from his past. Naruto continues to chases after Sora, but ends up fighting the woman that can use five-elements, yet again, attempting to give him the kiss of death. Can the brave shinobi protect their village from destruction? And will Shikamaru be able to devise a defense strategy in time?
Naruto chases after Sora, whom had just attempted to assassinate Tsunade. During this time, there is a village-wide power outage, prompting Tsunade to declare a level two state of emergency. While Asuma tracks Naruto and Sora, Furiido and his group begin their attack on Konoha.
After Danzo is captured, he is interrogated by Tsunade and others. Meanwhile, Sora is eavesdropping on the entire ordeal and overhears something that deeply shakes his trust in Konoha. Could this be the opportunity Furiido has been waiting for?
Naruto, Sakura, Sai, and Yamato return to Konoha with Sora, who will be taking Sai's place for the rest of the mission while Sai is incapacitated. However, upon meeeting Sora, Naruto's colleagues soon discover why Naruto has a strong dislike for him.
Sora encounters the person responsible for the latest events and engages him in combat. Meanwhile, Sakura and Sai meet up with Yamato, and Naruto continues his fight against Fuka, a woman who can use all five different chakra elements.
Sora breaks away from Sakura, unwilling to find Naruto. Meanwhile Naruto, Sai, and Yamato are stuck fighting three new foes that have appeared before each of them.
After learning about the temple, Naruto challenges Sora to a sparring match. However, during the match, Naruto realizes that he has more in common with Sora than he originally thought.
