After the most successful advertising campaign Springfield has ever seen, The Krusty the Clown show gets bumped in the ratings by Arthur Crandall, a droll ventriloquist, and Gabbo, his excitable dummy. Gabbo is a huge hit, and Krusty’s show is cancelled as a result of falling ratings. Bart and Lisa enlist the help of Krusty’s Hollywood pals like Hugh Hefner, Bette Midler, Elizabeth Taylor, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and others to save his show. After an emotional TV special, Krusty’s show is brought back for good.

Bleach 9×17: The Past Chapter Begins! The Truth From 110 Years Ago!
This episode takes place in Soul Society 110 years ago. Most of the Captains have gathered to celebrate the promotion of the 12th Squad Captain to the Royal Guard, known as Zero Squad. Meanwhile, Yoruichi (currently the Captain of Second Squad) has recommended her Third Officer, Urahara Kisuke for the now vacant position. However, Soi Fon is not happy about this and follows Urahara in an attempt to prove he is unworthy of the position. Yoruichi hears of this and mistakenly thinks that Soi Fon has a crush on Urahara. Because of this Yoruichi arranges for her to attend the Captain’s Qualification Exam to watch him in action. Although Urahara, is delayed in getting to the exam because of having to capture a group of deserters he makes it in time and manages to pass. As such Urahara Kisuke is appointed as the new Captain of the 12th squad, although vice-captain Aizen Sousuke is less than pleased.
Law And Order SVU 6×23: Goliath
After the wife of a police officer claims her husband raped her, Benson and Stabler arrest the man and come close to believing his version of events when he attacks his captain. When another officer murders his wife and attempts to kill himself that same night, the whole force gets involved and soon realises that the two men both recently returned home from Afghanistan, where they were given the drug Quinium, an anti-malarial. With the reluctant help of reporter Sherm Hempell and a base doctor with an attack of conscience, Novak takes on the U.S. army. Stabler has trouble with the case because of his history in the marines.
Desperate Housewives 1×23: One Wonderful Day
Gabrielle, Susan, and Lynette rush to the hospital in the middle of the night after receiving a phone call from Danielle telling them about Rex’s heart attack. Bree confides that she feels guilty because she and Rex were having a fight when he had his heart attack and that now he needs a pacemaker. Before his operation, Rex apologizes for being a bad husband. After not getting any better, the doctor suggests to Rex that maybe Bree was tampering with his medication. Rex writes her a note telling her that he understands, and then dies not knowing the real truth. Minutes later, a doctor calls Bree to tell her that Rex has died. She numbly sits in her empty dining room, looking at the chair where Rex would normally sit. She goes into typical Bree coping mode by polishing the silver but then she dissolves into heartbroken sobs. Lynette’s marriage takes a dramatic turn after an upset Tom, who accidentally quit his job under false pretenses due to Lynette’s manipulation, vows that it is now her turn to go back to work and he’ll be staying home with the kids. And Lynette may just take his offer. Carlos finally learns that John and Gabrielle have been lovers for a while, and vows revenge as he is carted off to jail. Mike takes Paul out to a deserted quarry, intending to shoot him. After realizing it’s about Dierdre, Paul reveals why Mary Alice killed herself: a drugged-out Dierdre sold them her baby to feed her habit. They fled Utah and changed their names, but she still found them. Mary Alice killed Dierdre by accident when she came to forcibly take Zach/Dana back from them and they hid her body where they thought it would never be found — in a toy chest buried under their new pool. In the end Mike doesn’t kill Paul, but goes home where Zach is waiting for him, while pointing a gun at Susan.

Meanwhile the man-demon-machine Adam that Professor Walsh created is roaming Sunnydale and even Buffy can't seem to stop him.
When Riley tells his superiors about Buffy, they invite her to join the Initiative. It soon becomes apparent, however, that her independent attitude and need to question orders may not be what the Initiative is looking for.
At Buffy's 19th birthday party, Giles has a realization. He is an unemployed, middle-aged man hanging around with a bunch of teenagers. He feels even worse when he finds out that he is the only one who doesn't know about Riley and the Initiative. Feeling useless and insecure, he runs into Ethan Rayne, but the confrontation ends in drinks at the local pub rather than the usual fisticuffs. The next morning, Giles looks in the mirror and sees a massive Fyarl demon looking back at him.

To help Buffy get over the pain of having been used by Parker, the gang head to a fraternity Halloween party expecting a few cheap scares and a bit of harmless fun. Unfortunately, some accidental magic turns the party into a house of horrors where everyone's fears come to life.
Spike returns to Sunnydale with his new girlfriend, the now vampire Harmony. Spike is searching for the Gem of Amara - a stone which makes vampires immune to crosses, stakes, and sunlight - and he believes that it is buried somewhere under Sunnydale. Buffy is preoccupied with her budding relationship with Parker and eventually sleeps with him, but she is devastated when he grows distant the next day. Meanwhile Anya returns and throws herself at a flabbergasted Xander.
Dorm life proves to be a challenge as Buffy has to deal with a roommate who is more than a little bit difficult. Kathy plays music that Buffy hates, labels all her food in the refrigerator, borrows clothes without asking, and gets in the way of Buffy's Slayer duties. She even starts flirting with Parker, Buffy's first college infatuation. Eventually, Buffy comes to the only logical conclusion: Kathy is evil, and must be killed.
It's a new year, and Buffy is matriculating at UC Sunnydale. Willow is completely in her element in a place of higher learning, and Oz, whose band has played on campus several times, is right at home as well. Giles is entertaining an old girlfriend who is visiting from England, and Xander is away on a cross-country trip. Meanwhile Buffy feels like a fish out of water. Her classes are harder, she has almost no friends, she drops a pile of books on a cute guy, and her roommate is too annoyingly perky for words. But when a fellow student goes missing and Buffy suspects supernatural badness, she begins to think that college life may not be so different after all.
