The episode opens with Daniel Jackson confined to the infirmary recovering from an appendectomy. The rest of team is told to take a vacation. O’Neill wants to go fishing and Carter wants to stay on base to work on a project. As O’Neill is leaving he is suddenly transported to Thor’s ship where he encounters many mechanical spiders. When he finds Thor he is informed these are replicators, an even greater enemy to the Asgard than the Goa’uld. He tells O’Neill that they (Asgard) need his help to defeat them.

When Homer hears that the Isotopes are on a winning streak, he takes the family to the game. The first baseman’s game is going bad, caused by his sexy singing wife Tabitha embarrassing him during the game’s national anthem. Buck Mitchell sees Marge and Homer’s kiss on the game’s Kiss-Cam and comes to them for marital advice. They start working with the couple and Buck’s baseball career turns around, but it and the Simpson marriage goes awry again when Buck catches Homer giving Tabitha a neck massage. While Marge and Homer try keeping their marriage together they also try to get Buck and Tabitha back together.

With Deep Throat's insistence, they discover evidence of secret government project code-named Purity Control, which uses human test subjects and infects them with extraterrestrial DNA. However, the evidence and everyone who has seen it is quickly being eliminated.
When a series of murders occur among a group of scientists working on advanced propulsion technology, Mulder and Scully are called in to investigate. All evidence seems to point to the janitor Roland, who is mentally handicapped.

Their first case takes them to Oregon, to investigate the unsolved deaths of several high school classmates, which Mulder believes are linked to an alien abduction.
